Three honeys of different colors poured into small glass bowls for comparison

Part 1

Choose the three

  1. 1Pick three honeys with clear contrast: one pale (clover, orange blossom), one golden (tupelo, wildflower), one dark (buckwheat, avocado).
  2. 2Warm each jar in a bowl of hand-hot water for 10 minutes so it pours cleanly. Never microwave raw honey.

Part 2

Fill and seal

  1. 3Line the jars up in rows of three. Pour from a spouted jug, leaving ¼ inch of headspace.
  2. 4Wipe every rim with a damp cloth, then lid. For a wax seal, dip each lidded top in melted beeswax and let it set upright.

Part 3

Tie and tag

  1. 5Group each trio and tie once around with ribbon.
  2. 6Write the honey name and where it's from on each tag. Lightest on the left, so guests taste in order.
